Ice Milk Tea Recipe


  • 1 ½ cups whole milk  lower fat milk can work too for fewer calories
  • 2 black tea bags (tea bags will make iteasy to remove the tea)
  • Sugar, honey, or other sweeteners,to taste
  • Note: for a non-dairy or vegan alternative, you can also use almond, coconut, or soy milk


  • In a small pan, heat the milk over low heat without allowing the milk to boil. You only want to stir the milk frequently until you see some steam. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Add the tea or the tea bags to a jug that’s large enough to contain the hot milk.
  • Pour the hot milk over the tea and let the tea steep for about 5 to 10 minutes while stirring gently and occasionally.
  • Remove the tea bags and give them a light squeeze then discard them.
  • Add your sweetener of choice, if any, and stir it gently to dissolve to help it dissolve properly while the milk is hot.
  • Cover the hot tea latte with a piece of cloth to prevent it from forming a skin, and let it cool down outside the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the cloth, cover the jug loosely with plastic wrap, and put it in the fridge overnight or until it’s cold enough.
  • When ready to serve, prepare a serving glass with 1 or 2 pieces of ice and pour the drink over it.

Vanilla Ice Milk Recipe with the Ice Cream Maker

The vanilla ice milk recipe is a relatively trickier one but nothing too complicated. You can prepare it with the ice cream maker or simply put the final mix in the freezer until it reaches the desired consistency.

The ingredients yield about 6 cups, so adjust the following recipes to the amount you need:

Vanilla Ice Milk Recipe with the Ice Cream Maker


  • 1 ½ cups plain or lightly toasted sugar
  • ¼ cup corn starch
  • ¼ cup powdered milk
  • ½ tsp salt salt or 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 3 ½ cups  whole milk (about 28 ounces) divided
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract


  • In a large saute chef or a saucier, whisk the cornstarch, sugar, and powdered milk together while adding a pinch of salt. You should continue mixing until the mix is all smooth and well-combined with no clumping.
  • Once all clumps are gone, gradually add about 1 2/3 cups of the whole milk, and gently whisk it to combine.
  • Cook the mixture over medium heat while whisking until it starts to simmer.
  • Once the mix starts to boil, whisk it exactly for one minute to fully hydrate the cornstarch. You can use a timer for that.
  • After that one minute, transfer the mixture to a relatively large bowl, and add the remainder of the milk and vanilla extract to the mix while whisking.
  • Cover the mix and refrigerate it until it’s cold and thick, which usually takes about 3 hours if you use a glass bowl or 2 hours if you’re using a stainless steel one.
  • Chill a spatula and a suitable sized container in the freezer while you churn the mix in your ice cream maker according to the directions of your model.
  • When the ice milk looks thick and smooth but still in a liquid state, shut off the machine and scrape it out with the cold spatula into the container.


if you don’t have an ice maker, you can simply pour the mix into a freezer container and manually stir the mixture every hour to keep it smooth and fluffy until the ice starts to form. This should take 8 hours.

Chocolate Ice Milk Recipe

Similar to the vanilla ice milk, you can also make the chocolate ice milk in both the ice cream machine or by using the freezer. Here’s how to make it.

Chocolate Ice Milk Recipe


  • 4 cups whole milk (you can also uselactose-free milk for a non-dairy version, coconut, almond, or soy milk for avegan version)
  • 1 lb premium milk chocolate (you can use dark too)
  • 1 cup sugar or any othersweetener of your choice (optional)
  • ¼ tsp vanilla or butterscotchextract for extra flavoring (optional)

You can also add ½ a cup of any of the following additions for variety:

  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Crushed cookies
  • Nuts
  • Berries


  • Break the chocolate into smaller pieces and put them in a double boiler with hot water underneath but not in contact with the chocolate.
  • Add ½ a cup of the milk to the chocolate and bring the boiler to medium heat.
  • Wait for the chocolate to melt completely, then gradually add the remainder of the milk.
  • Whisk the molten chocolate gently until it’s completely smooth.
  • Leave the mixture to simmer uncovered on medium to low heat for about 25 minutes. Meanwhile, continue to scrape the sides frequently as you leave it to cook.
  • Remove the chocolate pot from the double boiler and set it aside to cool down for 30 minutes.
  • Refrigerate the chocolate mix for about 8 hours while continuing to stir occasionally every hour or churn it in the ice cream machine until it reaches the desired consistency.
