How To Soften Brown Sugar – The Ultimate Guide

Why does brown sugar bulk up into a rock-like state, while white sugar stays granulated? You might’ve wondered a little about that as you held a brick hard bag of brown sugar in your hands. The science behind this is simple. Brown sugar is basically white sugar with added molasses. And if it’s not properly […] More

How to make the perfect homemade cola.

For full recipe and ingredients please visit: https://ireallylikefood.com

Ingredients
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
7 1/4 cups Sugar
2 tsp coriander seed
1 tsp gum arabic
1/4 tsp citric acid
1 lime juice and grated zest
1 lemon juice and grated zest
2 oranges juice and grated zest
2 tbsp dried orange peel
1/4 cup browning sauce
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 cups carbonated water

Instructions
This homemade cola recipe will need you to combine orange zest, orange peel, lime zest, lemon zest, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander seed, citric acid, and gum arabic in a non-stick cooking saucepan.

Bring them to a boil and whisk these ingredients together until the gum arabic disintegrates.
Once the gum arabic dissolves, add in the sugar and bring to a boil for one minute or until the mixture has liquified.

Remove from heat and blend in orange, lemon, and lime juices, along with the vanilla extract and browning sauce. If you don't have browning sauce available, you can use brown sugar with a little bit of water as an alternative.

Let it cool for 30 minutes to one hour, and then strain the homemade coca cola syrup with a sieve or cheesecloth for a smoother consistency.

For every 1 1/2 cups of carbonated water, add in 1/2 cup of homemade cola syrup. Stir the mixture until it's fully combined and blended. For best results, add ice and enjoy!
Notes

Note: You can keep this homemade cola syrup recipe refrigerated for up to 2 weeks

Mexican Chicken Flautas Recipe

Ingredients

2 Boneless Chicken Breasts
1 Onion
1 Tomato sliced
2tsp Kosher Salt
2 Cloves Garlic
1tsp Cumin
1tsp Black Pepper
16 Small Corn Tortillas
Vegetable or Canola oil
1 Head lettuce shredded
Sour Cream/Salsa/Guacamole
1 Cup Avocado Slices

Instructions

Put all of your ingredients for chicken into a large pot. That would be the chicken, cumin, kosher salt, half an onion, garlic, tomato slices, and black pepper. Cover your ingredients with water and ensure the chicken has an inch of water over it.

Simmer on a low heat for about 20 minutes, and then bring to a boil on medium heat. Once the water is boiling, you should lower the heat and simmer for an additional 20 minutes to cook the chicken thoroughly. You may need to stir from time to time.

Next, shred your chicken and place it on a cutting board. Set the chicken aside and put the flautas together.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with paper towels and make sure there are enough baking sheets for all of your flautas. This is not a baked flautas recipe chicken dish, but you will use the oven to keep your flautas warm while your entire meal is frying. This will yield better results than trying to warm everything in the microwave, and it ensure that none of the food is served cold.

Next, pop the tortillas in the microwave for about 15 seconds. This makes them warm and pliable so they will be easy to work with. You can warm them in a stack in the microwave, if you like, covering the stack with a damp towel. Trying to warm them up in the oven will make them crispy and hard, which is not what you want.

Then it is time to fill the tortillas. You can put about a tablespoon of shredded chicken in each one. Wrap the tortillas tightly and stick a toothpick through each one. This keeps them from falling apart and opening up while they are frying.

Once all of your tortillas are prepped, you can hear the oil in a skillet and fry your flautas. You want enough oil in the skillet for the oil to be about two inches high. Flip the tortillas over during frying to ensure that they are browned on all sides. Once they are a crispy golden color, you can take them out and place then onto the baking pan in the oven.

Notes
Once they are all cooked, you can top the tortillas with cream, avocado slices, and shredded lettuce. Delicious!
