Golden Guava Paste

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 lbs guava paste

Instructions

  • Melt the butter and vegetable shortening over medium heat.
  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, except the guava paste. Use your hands to mix until all the ingredients are well blended.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Place half of the dough in a baking tray and add the guava paste. Place the remaining dough on top.
  • Pat down to form a top crust and bake the cake for 30 minutes or until the crust is slightly golden.
  • Allow to cool and cut into squares.
