Mexican Guava Compote

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Mexican guavas
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  • Add the water, sugar, cinnamon stick and lemon juice to a large pot. Heat on medium heat.
  • When it starts boiling, reduce the heat to let it simmer until it thickens.
  • Cut the guavas in halves and remove the seeds.
  • Add the guavas when the syrup is thick and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
  • Cover and let it cool.
