Cheddar Sesame Stick Recipe

Keyword: sesame stick
Servings: 11 pieces

  • ¾ cup extra-sharp cheddar cheese (about 3.25 ounces)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp white whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp all-purpose flour
  • tsp fine sea salt
  • 2 tbsp ice water
  • 6 tbsp white sesame seeds, divided

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Put the cheese in a food processor equipped with the blade attachment and pulse to chop the cheese into small pieces.
  • Add in the butter, flours, salt, and 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds.
  • Blend until you get a sand-like consistency.
  • Pour in the ice water and process until chunks of dough start to form.
  • Divide the dough into 11 parts then working on a flat surface, roll each piece into a stick around 8 inches long.
  • Pour the remaining sesame seeds out onto a plate or the flat surface and roll each stick in the sesame seeds to coat evenly.
  • Transfer the sticks to the parchment-lined baking tray, leaving ½ inch of space between each stick.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping the sticks midway until they turn a golden brown color.
