Spicy Sesame Stick Recipe

Servings: 4 dozen


  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds


  • Cream the butter the add te flour, cayenne, salt, and oregano.
  • Combine until the butter is completely blended into the flour mixture. You can do this in the food processor using the blade attachment.
  • Blend in the egg and knead the dough by hand or process until the mixture looks like cookie dough.
  • Add the parmesan cheese and combine well.
  • Divide the dough into quarters then divide each quarter into halves.
  • Roll out to make finger-thick rods about 8 inches long.
  • Sprinkle the surface with sesame seeds.
  • Divide each rod into 6 pieces making a dozen pieces from each quarter of dough.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 min until the sticks turn pale golden.
  • Serve hot or at room temperature.
