I’ve taken a look at the best steamer basket for Instant Pot and provided the list here for you on the top ones I found.
I love how quick and easy it is to make steamed vegetables in the Instant Pot once you have a steamer basket. Not all steamer baskets are created equal, though.
Some are definitely better than others and will allow you to cook food easier because of the features they offer. So, I’ve narrowed down the list of what’s available to give you my top picks.
A steamer basket is not included in the standard Instant Pot purchase. You’ll have to buy one separately as an added accessory. That’s why I think it’s important to go through what’s out there on the market and give you the best options.
Silicone Steamer Basket
This basket does a great job of containing your veggies and keeping them from falling out into the pot. The basket is also really easy to clean, since it is dishwasher safe and made from silicone. It folds up on itself, which is great for storing it in small spaces.
The only drawback I have to this basket is that it can’t change size to fit all of the Instant Pots, however, it works very well for 8-quart and 6-quart pots. I find it is much easier to clean than the metal baskets, so it’s definitely one of my top picks for the most convenient steamer basket for Instant Pot.

I like how this basket is designed for consumer convenience. It pulls together into a very compact size for easy storage. It is also fitted with silicone feet so it won’t scratch any surface is it is placed on.
This basket is designed to be removable, and it comes with an extendable handle to make it easy to take out of the pot and rest on your counter so that you can serve the vegetables from the steamer basket.
It’s not just for steaming vegetables in the pot but also keeping them warm after they’re done steaming.
One of the things I love about this basket is beautiful design that opens out like a flower bloom. On top of that, this steamer basket can adjust to fit the size of the pot it is being used for.
That means you can use it in pretty much any Instant Pot. It’s large enough to handle some of the bigger vegetables and is designed for versatility and ease of use. It’s not as easy to clean as the completely silicone baskets, but it still cleans without too much trouble.
The basket is made from stainless steel that is safe for the dishwasher or the sink and that should last you for a long time.

The mesh strainer can be a little bit difficult to clean, and that’s really the only drawback this steamer basket has. I don’t think you’ll be able to find a better quality steamer basket for the smaller 3-quart pots, so this is my top recommendation for that size of Instant Pot.

If you need a steamer basket that works well for larger meals and don’t mind that the basket doesn’t collapse, then this is a good option. It’s really sturdy, as the name implies, and the silicone touches are very consumer friendly.
They keep the basket from scratching surfaces or from being easily damaged. The silicone handle also makes it easy to lift the basket out of your pot and protects your hands from being burnt.
This is a great basket to use for steaming and boiling as well as for straining. It’s made from high quality 18/8 stainless steel and the silicone used is all food grade.
This is the perfect size steamer basket for either the 6 or 8-quart Instant Pot. It’s a great basket to fill up with tons of ingredients for larger meals. Most steamer baskets can’t handle as much food as this one can, so if you cook for a large family or lots of guests often, this may be the way to go.
Steamer Basket Tips
I want to leave you with a few closing thoughts about using a steamer basket. This versatile tool is something I think anyone should have if they have an Instant Pot.
It allows them to do a lot more and cook foods simpler and faster than they would be able to otherwise.
You can place the whole steamer basket in the Instant Pot and cook under pressure whether it is made of silicone or metal. The silicone used in the Instant Pot steamer baskets I’ve recommended are all food grade and designed to handle the high pressure of the pot and to not cause any chemical seepage into the food.
Make sure you get the right size steamer basket for your Instant Pot. Some are made for the smaller 3-quart pots, while others are made for a larger 5, 6, or 8-quart pot. Be sure to check the specifications on the steamer basket you are getting to ensure it is made to fit your Instant Pot.
Keep in mind that some of these steamer baskets change size and they accommodate a large number of Instant Pot designs.
You can steam vegetables without using a steamer basket, but you should know that the outcome won’t be quite the same. They won’t have that same texture you get through properly steaming them. That’s why I suggest buying a steamer basket if you don’t already have one. It can help you make your food come out just right every time.
